What is FREED?

Field Research in Ecology and Evolution Diversified (FREED) is a weeklong naturalist skills ‘crash course’ for Indigenous, Black and/or Racialized undergraduate students. In 2022, FREED hosted 14 students from University of Toronto and University of Western Ontario. Through sponsorships across different organizations, FREED covers most of the costs of its participants and workshop leaders.

Planning for FREED in 2023 is currently in the works and we are looking forward to another great adventure!

The 3 pillars of FREED

1.ACCESS

2. SKILLS

3. CONNECTIONS
